The current A3 format is getting a little long in the tooth, so I think I'd go with the A45. It's not like I'll end up with either one, seeing as how the US is apparently too cool for these models.

Consider yourself lucky.
In Australia we get them but they charge us 3 times what they cost in Europe putting them out of reach for all but the select few earning the $$$ for this luxury.

True. Even though the new Mercedes A-class is a step-up from the old, horrible-looking one, I'd still never buy a hatchback. They seem pretty popular though. Must be because of the price.
