A lot of great design ideas from Packard were copied by Ford, GM and Chrysler. Too bad Packard couldn't get them built in time.
That upright nose was an original Packard design in earlier cars. They were trying to bring that idea back when they were trying to return Packard to its more upscale/luxury status it had at one time, similar to Cadillac. Too bad that Packard was shut down when the Nash/Studebaker/Packard -> American Motors deal went south.
