Sad day for Wankel fans, lets start our good-byes with some RX-8s (25 Pictures)

Mazda killed their Renesis rotary engine. This is not a sad picture collection, it's a celebration of life. Ok, it's just some good looking 8s and a few ladies to keep the displacement guys from running away.

Enthusiasts are a rare breed now, and the mass public wants to be green. The rotary is an amazing setup, but takes extra maintenance, gas, and oil that the average consumer doesn't feel justifies owning it. Too many people abused the RX8, giving it an undeserved bad rep. Besides being under powered and hardly related to the RX7 beast, I like it.

Um…. Dave, Mazda confirmed yesterday they are developing their new Rotary yesterday via their official PR Twitter feed…

I just saw this as well. Seems to be very early in the development stage, but I can't wait to see what they produce. That tweet seemed to be more of a 'Thank you' to the rotary fans, than revealing their plan. Hopefully we will have a new road/track boosted monster soon.
