The idea was pretty cool, but what really makes a hot rod cool is how unique it is. When you mass-produce them you've just got something that there really isn't a market for.

Rip off of a 34 ford. The PT cruiser was based a 37 ford and it woked out ok for chrysler.

Sounds like someone is a Ford fanboy.
PT was styled after pretty much any car made in the later 30s
Prowler was a Corporate realization of a hot-rod.
No need to drag ford into a MoPar post.
