The American Top Gear is just like that Mexican super car posted here last week. Sure, it has all the pretty bits but it's just not quite right. And in the end, it's because it's soulless. It brings nothing.

Real Top Gear invented a format and, as May said, spent years perfecting it. He called it "mutual loathing" but he was referring to the undeniable chemistry the cast has.

Maybe fake Top Gear gets there at some point, but as a die hard motor enthusiast who won't watch it because it's so poor, I doubt they'll have the chance.

I can't stand to watch the US version of top gear. I watched the first two episodes and was disappointed in the lack of any kind of originality. They have no ideas they can call their own, there is zero comedy, and nothing is natural, it all seems forced and over scripted. No attempt at a country's own version of Top Gear will be as good as UK's I think.

What is truly pathetic in the US Top Gear is the almost undeniable attempt to think we yanks (as they would say) would not see that those three guys are not Clarkson, May, and Hammond. The pitiful attempt to have a Clarkson-Esq bravado by Foust that just falls flat and feels like a cheap Chinese knock-off. I wont even continue cause i just don't want to be that negative Now i know being a Top Gear fan that the show was a bit rough in the first few seasons but they still had their chemistry. But Clarkson was their and as we all know between himself and the producer its their show and if fits like a glass slipper. The most pathetic thing i have to ultimately say about the US version of the show is that they are really trying to go for Bigger is Better, we will run this hard and fast with all these explosions. I mean did they really do the blind man driving the car already they couldn't have even tried to be any bit original at all to try to make us feel that we are not just watching a College Kids multimedia class final.
