This photo comes from the first lap of the Indianapolis 500 when Stan Fox lost control and made contact with Eddie Cheever, Jr. As you can see, the front nose was ripped off to expose his legs. Yet, Fox did not injure his legs, he did suffer serious head injuries but would recover to continue racing. Tragically, Fox would not survive a later wreck in New Zealand. Moral of the story, there’s a down side to being a bad ass race car driver.
