Toyota is not making a new “Supra”… Lexus is.
It’s called the LFA.
Supposedly the internal model number of the LFA is “A90″. The 4th gen supra shown here is an A80. A third gen Supra is A70, ect.
And further… put an A70 or a A80 image next to the LFA and the similarites are quite striking. Perhaps it’s the overinflated ego of the Supra community, or it’s just coincidence… we’ll never really know.
toyota will release another car equal to the supra soon enough, the LFA was a concept car that found its way somehow to production. toyota = lexus.. lexus selling the LFA @ 400,000 euros they are still losing money on the car. if you break down the $30 mill they in R&D for the motor and electronics its still well over 500k per car. the supra was a cash cow for toyota and it will happen again. FYI, The 2JZGTE motor design was subcontracted to german engineers who also work on AMG performance engines. Also, the LFA is only .2 of a second faster than a stock Nissan GTR in the qtr mile.. Buy a boost controller and up the boost by 5 lbs and it will beat it. pretty said considering you can buy roughly 5 or 6 GTRS for one LFA.
